LSD-25 antagonism of morphine analgesia.

چکیده
--, Many indoles have been investigated in recent years for their effects on central nervous system. Some of them have been demonstrated to modify the analgesic effects of morphine. SIGG et al. (i6) have shown that morphine analgesia is potentiated by 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) and tryptamine. SCHNEIDER and Mc ARTHUR (I5) reported potentiating action of a phrenotropic indole alkaloid Ibogaine on morphine analgesia. Reserpine has been variously reported to antagonise (t4, i6) and potentiate (22) morphine analgesia. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of LSD-25, an important phrenotropic indole on morphine analgesia. Amidone was included to see if a similar interaction occurred with other morphine like analgesics as well.

Effect of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD-25) on morphine induced bradycardia.
Several antagonistic interactions between morphine and LSD-25 (lysergic acid diethylamide) have been demonstrated. LSD-25 antagonizes morphine induced analgesia in rats (1) and emesis in dogs (2). It also blocks the miotic action of morphine (3). On the other hand morphine blocks LSD-25 induced pyre xia in rabbits (4) and the central hypotensive effect of LSD-25 in dogs (5). Morphine produces m...
متن کاملAlterations in the antagonism by naloxone of morphine-induced respiratory depression and analgesia after morphine pretreatment.
Mice were pretreated either acutely or chronically with morphine to test the effect of such pretreatments on the antagonism by naloxone of morphine-induced respiratory depression and analgesia and to compare the development of tolerance to the two effects. A s.c. injection of 20 mg/kg of morphine 6 hr before testing produced a shift of the apparent pA2 of morphine-naloxone for analgesia from 7....
متن کاملEffects of selective opiate antagonists on morphine-induced hyperalgesia in domestic fowl.
Although morphine typically produces analgesia in a variety of species, recent research has identified a biological model in which morphine produces a naloxone-reversible, paradoxical hyperalgesic response to a noxious thermal stimulus in young domestic fowl. The present study examined opioid receptor-mediation of this atypical opiate effect. Patterns of morphine hyperalgesia (1.25 to 5.0 mg/kg...
متن کاملStudies on the mechanism of action of tetrabenazine as a morphine antagonist II. A participation of catecholamine in the antagonism.
Ealier observations in this laboratory have demonstrated that tetrabenazine, a brain monoamine releaser, antagonizes morphine analgesia in mice (1) and that it antagonizes the depressive effects of morphine on the several afferent pathways in the central nervous system in cat (2). More recently it has also been demonstrated that the change of brain noradrenaline (NA) plays more important role t...
متن کاملGABAergic mechanisms in morphine analgesia.
There are coflicting reports regarding the role of GABA in morphine analgesia. While-sorne investigators have reported that treatment with GABAA receptor agonist muscimol and GABA transaminase inhibitors potentiates morphine analgesia (2.4.6) others have reported antagonism of morphine analgesia (8.10). In view of these conflicting reports and since the analgesic profile 'of THIP, a GABAA recep...
